Practice Description:  
Matt Singer is an associate at Stowell & Friedman, Ltd. Matt assists clients in a range of employment disputes related to race, gender and other forms of workplace discrimination. He has substantial experience litigating suits - including drafting briefs, managing discovery, and conducting oral argument -- in both federal and state courts. Moreover, Matt has emphasized pro bono service in his legal career. In particular, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals appointed Matt to brief and argue a pro bono appeal on behalf of an indigent client challenging his immigration removal order.

Before entering the private practice of law, Matt served as a staff law clerk at the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In that role, he assisted all the Seventh Circuit's judges with appeals implicating important issues of federal law. Matt also taught law students as an Adjunct Professor of Advocacy at Loyola Law School.

Matt graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to a Boston Municipal Court Judge and as an intern in the United States Attorney's Office in New Haven, Connecticut. He also assisted low-income clients at Harvard Law School's Predatory Lending and Consumer Protection Clinic.

In 2008, Matt served as a campaign manager for two successful Democratic state representative campaigns in Iowa. Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with High Distinction from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy. Matt also was a sports editor at The Michigan Daily student newspaper, where he covered Michigan's football and basketball teams.
