Mr. MacDonald's practice is primarily devoted to trial litigation in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance law, products liability, executive employment law, quitam and federal white collar criminal investigations. He has tried more than 100 jury cases to conclusion. He has been involved in defense of numerous federal white-collar investigations involving health care fraud and corporate accounting fraud over the last 10 years. He has also defended over a dozen clergy abuse matters. Among his representation for numerous corporate clients, Mr. MacDonald has, for example, handled Prairie Farms Dairy litigation in Southern Illinois and throughout Missouri, as well as major natural gas incidents for Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently a member of the Alumni Council of St. Louis University Law School.

Mr. MacDonald was an assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of Illinois (1978-1982), where he prosecuted bank fraud and other white collar criminal cases and defended the United States on Federal Tort Claim cases.

Since 1988, Mr. MacDonald has been an adjunct professor of pre-trial litigation at Washington University Law School in St. Louis. He has been an instructor at the prestigious trial academy sponsored by the IADC in Boulder, Colorado. He has made numerous presentations at Illinois Defense Counsel meetings including presentations on the federal rules and reviews of Illinois Tort Law. At the Washington University School of Law, he is a frequent guest lecturer on products liability law, expert testimony, and evidence and is a frequent guest speaker at industry, civic and ran association seminars on pre-trial and trial issues.
