Mr. Bodewes is available to practice in the areas of business law and planning, corporate representation of business and trade associations, financial institutions, governmental affairs, real estate, estate planning and probate law. Herman's practice includes representation at all levels of government.
He entered private practice with Giffin, Winning, Cohen and Bodewes, P.C. in 1965. He has concentrated his practice in representation of trade associations, legislative and governmental affairs, business and estate planning.
Mr. Bodewes has been a registered lobbyist in the state of Illinois, representing numerous businesses, for more than 30 years.
He served as a member of the Article 9 Financial Service Coalition in 1999-2000 during the rewrite of Article 9 to the Uniform Commercial Code. He wrote an article entitled "Privacy Provisions Under State Law" which was published in the Illinois Reporter, a magazine published by the Illinois League of Financial Institutions. He also writes quarterly articles for a newsletter published by the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois and other trade associations.
Mr. Bodewes, with his extensive knowledge of the alcoholic beverage industry, drafted such legislation as the Illinois Beer Industry Fair Dealing Act; and, in conjunction with the banking industry, drafted the Illinois Savings Bank Act of 1990 as well as numerous other laws now in effect in Illinois.
