Bob Dewey practices in the Peoria office of Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen and serves as the Managing Partner of the firm. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Bob is a Past President and the immediate past Board Chair of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC). He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of DRI (Defense Research Institute) and Lawyers for Civil Justice. Bob concentrates his practice in the defense of civil litigation, including healthcare malpractice, products liability, construction accidents and major exposure cases for self-insureds and insurance carriers.

Bob is a past President of the state defense organization of Illinois, the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC); a past chair of the Illinois State Bar Association Insurance Law Section; a past DRI State Chair for downstate Illinois; and a recipient of the DRI Exceptional Performance Citation following his year as President of the IDC. Bob is also a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), a past President of the Peoria County Bar Association, and is a Master Emeritus of the American Inns of Court, Abraham Lincoln Chapter. Bob is also a past member of the Advisory Committee for the Prairie State Legal Services Campaign for Legal Services.
Bob has chaired the FDCC Medical Malpractice Committee, and the FDCC Defense of Nursing Homes Litigation Task Force, and is also a member of its Products Liability Committee. He is also a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and the Society of Trial Lawyers (Illinois).
Published Legal Writing:
Bob's publications include the chapter on "Remedies for Noncompliance" in past and current editions of Illinois Civil Discovery Practice published by IICLE; a chapter co-authored with Gary Nelson of the firm entitled "Is the Policy in Effect?" in a past edition of Attorney's Guide to Liability Insurance; and a number of chapters (each co-authored with Steve Heine of the firm) discussing developments in the insurance, evidence and tort law fields in annual "Survey of Illinois Law" editions of the Southern Illinois University Law Journal. Bob is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars concerning civil litigation and insurance law topics.
