Practice Description:  
Mr. Yavitz's practice is limited to matrimonial and family law at the trial court and appellate court levels. He has extensive experience in contested and uncontested divorces including matters dealing with custody, visitation, children's issues, paternity, extended family practice, domestic violence, post-divorce modification and enforcement, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. He also has extensive experience with cases involving complex financial strategies, business valuations and tax issues in divorce and family law cases. Mr. Yavitz was instrumental in the authoring and passage of Senate Bill 95, which grants 9 percent interest on all unpaid maintenance. He is certified by the Circuit Courts of Cook and Lake counties for court appointment as a child's representative, guardian ad litem, and attorney for children.
