| Practice Description: Mr. Matkov represents companies throughout the United States in complicated labor and industrial relations matters. He has extensive experience in labor contract negotiations, labor arbitration, practice before the National Labor Relations Board, compensation and benefits, OSHA, ERISA, EEO matters, and related litigation. |
He is a recognized expert in salaried and hourly compensation systems including engineered standards (incentive and measured daywork), gainsharing programs and job evaluation systems. Additional area of concentration involve employee productivity issues and programs, including QWL, quality circles, job enlargement/enrichment, job restructuring, employee participation, and the employee, labor, contract and compensation issues involved in cellular and just-in-time manufacturing systems.
He is involved in assisting the Firm's clients develop pragmatic approaches to the many new issues in the workplace including drug and alcohol testing, the evolving law of wrongful termination and privacy rights and electronic monitoring of employee behavior and productivity. Mr. Matkov has been a leader in assisting employers to develop managed health care options that are cost effective and acceptable to the employee base including the negotiation of health care issues with major international unions. He is frequently called upon to counsel with respect to the employment and benefit issues inherent in major business transactions, including the purchase and sale of business units.
Mr. Matkov has served as an outside director on boards of directors and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company (Binghamton, NY) and its subsidiaries, Columbian Family Life Insurance Company (New York, NY), Columbian Life Insurance Company (Chicago, IL) and Golden Eagle Sales Corp. (Brooklyn, NY).
Mr. Matkov is included in the corporate list (management labor law) of S. Naifeh & G.W.
